It's August in South Louisiana and for most of us, that means a wardrobe change at least twice a day. Well, it's either a wardrobe change or we run the risk of offending those around us with our odiferous offering of sweat stink and body odor.

By the way, it's also acceptable to take a water jet to the crotch to cool off in Parc San Souci in this heat. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

I get it. It's supposed to be hot this time of year but the current heatwave we are experiencing has been unmerciful. Today will not be an exception. The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has posted another excessive heat advisory for the area between the hours of 1 pm and 6 pm. That's when the air temperature and the "feels like" temperature will be their worst.

Across South Louisiana today we can expect afternoon temperatures to reach into the lower 90s. This coupled with the humidity will make the feels like temperature soar to between 104 and 108 over the course of the afternoon and early evening hours.

These temperatures can be dangerous to those exposed to them for long periods of time. Health officials suggest those who have to be out in the heat take precautions against heat stroke and heat exhaustion by taking frequent breaks in a shady or cooler location. They also suggest drinking a lot of water to help keep the body hydrated.

Forecasters expect the excessive temperatures to continue through the day Tuesday. By Wednesday rain chances are expected to be on the increase. The anticipated cloud cover and cooling rainfall should help keep temperature and heat indices down into more manageable ranges. It's still gonna be hot, it's just not going to be hotter than nine yards of hell and burning asphalt.
