Discussing Iberia Sheriff Louis Ackal Not Being Able To Carry Gun

Recently, a federal judge denied a motion that would have granted permission for indicted Iberia Parish Sheriff Louis Ackal to carry a gun.

This was a main topic of discussion in this week’s edition of “Firearms Friday” on “Acadiana’s Morning News” with Rob Kirkpatrick and Bernadette Lee.

Filling in for gun expert Glenn Fleming was Chris Ortego, an NRA Certified Firearms Instructor who teaches Conceal Carry and Gun Safety Classes (more information at highbrassfirearms.com). Next CHP Classes are August 6^th & 20^th.

In addition to discussing the decision against Sheriff Ackal, Ortego pointed out something veterans will be happy about: Veterans are now exempt from paying state fees for getting a Conceal Carry Permit in Louisiana.

They also touched upon the quick processing at LSP concealed handgun unit as wait times are down to 1-3 weeks for online applications.
