The Town of Duson will once again not have a Mardi Gras parade snaking through its streets.

Dusin Police Chief Kip Judice said the Town Council was notified that the Duson Mardi Gras Association will not seek a permit for a parade this year.

Judice said the association is continuing to organize its rules and regulations and has indicated they reserve the rights to apply for a 2018 Mardi Gras Parade.

This statement is an echo of the association's plans that were laid out prior to last year's Mardi Gras season.

According to a statement from Judice last year, the association did not request a permit in adequate time to have law enforcement readied for the event.
