Edwards seek disaster declaration for April twisters
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards has asked the White House for a federal disaster declaration for Lincoln, Morehouse and Union parishes.
Wednesday's request is for help with recovery from tornadoes in late April that killed two people and caused more than $12 million of damage. The area hit included Louisiana Tech University.
The governor's office says in a news release that the request covers damage on April 24 and 25 in the three north Louisiana parishes. The state says 206 homes were destroyed or badly damaged.
The governor is requesting FEMA Public Assistance and Individual Assistance.
