The death sentence was thrown out after a ruling that said the judge presiding over the case did not do a good enough job of vetting the jurors for potential biases.
According to AP News, the judges on the case made it clear that Tsarnaev will spend his remaining days in prison. The only matter at hand is if he will die by execution or not.
President Donald Trump was asked about the ruling while in Tampa, FL. The president told reporters, "I see in Boston, where you have the animal that killed so many people during the Boston Marathon,".Trump goes on saying, "They just sent this conviction for the death penalty back to the lower courts so they’ll argue about that for a long time. It’s ridiculous."
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev operated with his brother, Tamerlan, who was killed in a gunfight with police a few days after the April 15, 2013 bombing. Tsarnaev is currently being held at a maximum security prison in Colorado.
