SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — The attorney for a fired mayoral aide confirms that Shreveport police are investigating an allegation of sexual assault against Rick Seaton.

Marty Stroud of Shreveport says the investigation is in early stages, and sexual assault covers a broad spectrum of possible allegations.

Mayor Cedric Glover fired Seaton on Tuesday, citing a criminal investigation but giving no details.

The same day, police said they were investigating an 18-year-old's allegation that she had been sexually assaulted in the government building.

Police spokesman Bill Goodin says he could not comment about a news report based on anonymous sources and giving more specific allegations, except to say the report incorrectly said she was from Georgia. He would not say where she was from.
