(CBS News) Since March of 2020, the world has become a very different place. Killer bees, to riots and of course the Coronavirus pandemic. Our new environment can be tough to handle. It has been reported at least one-third of Americans are currently suffering from depression in the midst of this global crisis. Former first lady Michelle Obama announced today, like many in this country, the state of the world is taking a toll on her mental health.

During her weekly podcast, former first lady Michelle Obama revealed she dealing with "low-grade depression". Her emotions are getting the best of her these days. There are some emotional highs but mostly lows and with no end in sight.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) suggests you may be suffering from depression brought on by the Coronavirus pandemic if you have the following:

Fear and worry about your own health and the health of your loved ones, your financial situation of job or loss of support services you rely on.

  • Changes in sleep or eating patterns.
  • Difficulty sleeping or concentrating.
  • Worsening of chronic health problems.
  • worsening of mental health conditions.
  • Increased js of tobacco and/or alcohol and other substances.
