Former Teacher In Iberia Parish Arrested For Allegedly Having Sex With Student Ten Years Ago

NEW IBERIA, La. (KPEL) -- A former teacher in Iberia Parish was arrested on allegations she had a sexual relationship with a student ten years ago.

According to the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office, police arrested 48-year-old Paula Latiolais on Friday.

Latiolais was previously a teacher at Catholic High of New Iberia, authorities said.

Police said Latiolais' arrest came after a several-weeks investigation in which police received information that Latiolais had possibly molested the male student. That student was 15-year-old at the time, police said.

Police said Latiolais had evidently had sexual encounters with this student over a period of several years.

Latiolais was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail, police said, and the case remains under investigation.
