A former Louisiana Ragin' Cajun standout if off to a solid start at the AAA level, as he continues his quest to join a Major League Baseball roster.

Infielder Blake Trahan, who played for the Cajuns for three seasons, from 2013-2015, is playing well through the early portion of the minor league season, as he tries to take that last step and join the Cincinnati Reds' 25-man roster.

Through five games for Louisville, the AAA affiliate of the Reds, Trahan has 4 hits in 18 at-bats (.222), to go along with a run batted in.

Early season statistics will certainly fluctuate wildly, but Trahan is getting on base, drawing  four walks, and currently has a .348 on-base percentage.

A native of Kinder, La., Trahan, the 2015 Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year, appeared in 11 games for the Reds last September, collecting three hits in 14 at-bats, while scoring twice.

A 3rd-round draft choice of the Reds in 2015, Trahan has hit a .245, to go along with 2 home runs, and 31 runs batted in last season for Louisville, the Reds' AAA affiliate.
