Georgia State’s Fast Start In Second Half Dooms Cajuns
When the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns and the Georgia State Panthers meet up on the hardwood it's normally a competitive battle. That was the case for the first half but the Panthers would have a fast start in the second half to help them pull away and defeat the Cajuns 89-76.
The Panthers would lead most of the first half after taking an early 6-2 lead but the Cajuns would be able to answer the Panthers scoring despite not shooting well in the first half. The Cajuns didn't take their first lead in the game until late in the first half and as soon as they got the lead it was taken away by the Panthers who tied it up. The Panthers would end up taking a 3 point lead at the end of the first half when they hit a buzzer beater.
The Panthers would start out fast in the 2nd half where they would score the first 7 points of the half to push their lead to 10. The Cajuns just went cold in the 2nd half while the Panthers were shooting a lot better than they did in the first half. Jakeenan Gant had 36 points and 10 rebounds for the Cajuns while Justin Miller had 11 points and 13 rebounds but the Cajuns didn't get enough scoring from other players to help stop the Panthers runs.
The Cajuns will look to even their conference record when they travel to Statesboro, georgia to face Georgia Southern on Saturday. The two teams will face off at 4:00 PM and then the Cajuns will travel to Monroe next Saturday to finish off the road swing when they face ULM.
