PORTSMOUTH, Va. (AP) — A pair of Republican governors took turns bashing President Barack Obama's record during a small rally on the Virginia waterfront.

Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell and LouisianaGov. Bobby Jindal are making a series of appearances in the battleground state on Wednesday on behalf of GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

A few dozen Romney supporters turned out to hear Jindal call Obama the nation's most incompetent president since Democrat Jimmy Carter. McDonnell criticized the president for his energy policies, saying that unnecessary regulations are hurting the coal industry and impacting Virginia's port operations as a result.

The duo gave speeches at a diving, construction and crane rental business in Portsmouth.

Romney will also make another campaign stop in Richmond on Friday. That follows events in Lexington and Newport News on Monday.
