It's that time of the year when we have to remind someone that it is time to cut the grass in Lafayette.

If you travel down Ambassador Caffery between I-10 and the overpass you've probably noticed that the grass in the median is tall. And it's getting ugly.

This is one of the main arteries to the city and the lack of maintenance in the median is embarrassing to the city.

But who is in charge of cutting the grass? I may be wrong, but I believe it's the state's jurisdiction, not the city of Lafayette.

In any case, this is an ongoing issue in Lafayette. Every year we complain about how tall the grass is in the median and often it's the first thing guests see as they enter the city.

As you can see in the photo above, the grass is growing in the median near I-10 and it will continue to grow. I have seen it MUCH taller. So much that it can actually hinder your view while attempting to merge into lanes.

We hope that this "eyesore" is soon eliminated from our city and that the grass in the median is maintained.

It's time to quit neglecting this entrance to Lafayette.
