Gov. Bobby Jindal has run into criticism from the head of his office of Elderly Affairs.

Jindal appointee Martha Manual says the governor's plan to merge the office into the health department would damage services for Louisiana's senior citizens. Martha Manuel argues elderly residents are better served without the bureaucracy of the Department of Health and Hospitals.

The House Appropriations Committee is considering the budget plan proposed by the governor.
