BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — First-time claims for jobless benefits fell in Louisiana last week becuase of the two-day state holiday.

The Louisiana Workforce Commission reported 3,205 initial unemployment filings for the week ending Nov. 27. There were 4,293 first-time claims the previous week.

The four-week moving average of initial claims fell to 3,878 last week from the previous week's 3,976.

For the comparable week ending Nov. 28, 2009, there were 4,415 first-time claims.

Last week, those still looking for work filed for an additional 47,156 additional weeks of benefits. That's down from the previous week's total of 48,626 weeks.

For the comparable week a year ago, the state received claims for an additional 60,632 weeks of benefits.
