Homecoming Activities Are In Full Swing For UL
There are multiple more events that have been planned for this week as part of the festivities surrounding this year's Homecoming at University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
If you sing, dance or juggle, you will get your opportunity to showcase your talents at a student led talent show at the Cajundome Convention Center.
The event will feature students, and it's an event that is free and open to the public. It's called the "Cajuns Got Talent" competition. It's starts at 7 o'clock tomorrow evening.
Assistant Director of University Program Council Ruben Henderson says, "The competition has been focused on karaoke in the past, but this format gives students a chance to showcase any talent".
Tomorrow students will be asked to help make sure that bellies are full in our area as the "Wear Red, Get Fed and the Cajuns Can Care food Drive will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Boucher Street.
Students will be asked to bring non-perishable food items to fill up the local food banks. Students will then be treated to some delish food.
Henderson says it's a great way for "students to display their school spirit".
Thursday, October 11, students who show up decked out in their Ragin' Cajuns clothes will be treated to macaroni and cheese along with pulled pork sandwiches, salad, brownies and soft drinks.
The celebration continues on Thursday with the annual "Yell Like Hell" Pep Rally at the porch of the Student Union and the area adjacent to Cypress Lake.
The rally will feature the UL band, players, coaches, cheerleaders, Ragin' Jazz dance members and the Homecoming Court. Music will be provided by the band and a DJ.
