Louisiana State Police working in conjunction with the US Department of Homeland Security concluded an investigation that led to the arrest yesterday of 46 year old Trina Bourg of Houma.

It's alleged that Bourg working as a Spanish language interpreter used her position to solicit payments from people that entered the country illegally. Supposedly Bourg told the victims that she would use the money they gave her as bribes to immigration officials to remove their names from immigration detainers and/or federal immigration charges. Through investigation it was confirmed that Bourg received money through transfers to her bank account.

Bourg was arrested on a federal charge of wire fraud and state charges that include theft, illegal transmission of monetary funds, malfeasance in office, abuse of office and extortion. The total amount extorted from victims is unknown at this time due to discovery of more victims.
