I-12 Traffic Stop Leads To Huge Marijuana Seizure

Sunday morning Louisiana State Police Troopers observed a driver committing a traffic violation near the intersection of I-12 and I-55 and stopped the vehicle. The driver, 26 year old Carlos Davis of Greenwood, Mississippi refused consent to search the vehicle so a K-9 unit was called in. Following a positive alert by the K-9, Troopers searched the vehicle and discovered 300 pounds of marijuana in the back seat and cargo area of the 2015 Mazda CX-5.

Davis was arrested without incident and questioned. A successful controlled delivery of the marijuana was conducted at a home in Jackson, Mississippi leading to additional arrests. Davis was charged with possession with intent to distribute. Street value of the marijuana was estimated to be $250,000.
