Lafayette Police have decided to have another Sobriety checkpoint.  The police department will be starting their OWI checkpoint this Friday night, April 27th at 9:00 p.m., and they plan to wrap up the checkpoint at around 3:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

The checkpoint will be held somewhere within the city of Lafayette according to a press release from the department.  Police say, just like any other checkpoint, the purpose will be to target impaired drivers under the influence of alcohol or any other dangerous substance.

As always, the press release states state that "officers working the checkpoint will respond with zero tolerance to those drivers found to be under the influence."  Lafayette police are asking that if you intend to drink that you designate a driver.  They remind you getting arrest for an OWI can result in large fines and jail time.
