Fatal Accident Shuts Down Pinhook Road in Lafayette, Louisiana
LAFAYETTE, La. (KPEL News) - Police are responding to a traffic accident in Lafayette that has left one motorist dead.
The Lafayette Police Department said in a statement on Thursday morning that a major vehicle crash in the 700 block of Pinhook Road. According to LPD, the department's Traffic Unit is currently on scene and investigating what happened leading up to the crash.
One of the motorists involved in the crash "died as a result of injuries sustained from the crash and was pronounced dead on scene," Sgt. Robin Green said in the statement.
As a result of the crash and the ongoing investigation, E. Pinhook Road from Evangeline Thruway to Gauthier Road is closed in both directions at this time. Motorists are being told to avoid this area until further notice.
LPD will update the public when the roadway is open again.
