Inmate Escapes From Iberia Parish Work Crew

NEW IBERIA, La. (AP) — An Iberia Parish inmate is on the run, after escaping from sheriff's custody while on a work detail.

Michael Augustine walked away from the job site shortly after 10 a.m. Friday in New Iberia.

The 31-year-old inmate, who's from New Iberia, had been in jail for probation violation and criminal family neglect.
