(Lafayette, Louisiana) - Summer in South Louisiana was brutal, and many of us have been waiting for that first strong cold front of Fall, and it arrives next week.
No, you won't need thick jackets just yet when you leave home, but you will certainly feel a difference as soon as you walk out the door.
And most importantly, your AC unit that has been working overtime since June may finally get a break, and that may ease the pain the next time you receive an electric bill.
Fall officially started on September 22, and it certainly did not feel like Fall with highs in the mid-90s, but changes are coming by next Wednesday in Acadiana.
Now, while extended forecasts can change, meteorologists are currently calling for a strong cold front to sweep across the region by next Wednesday. Morning lows will be in the mid-to-low 60s, which will be a relief for all of us.
If you're asking what the daytime highs will be after this cold front arrives next week, they are projected to be in the 70s!! Yes, you may shout and rejoice after what we went through this summer.
After weeks of heat advisories and heat warnings this past summer, Acadiana deserves a strong cold front, and it's on its way. The good news is that once that initial cold front moves through, you'll start to see more cold fronts pushing farther south, and we will welcome as many as want to visit South Louisiana.
