Huge Black Bear Seen Walking Near Highway South of Lafayette, Louisiana

Another huge black bear has been spotted in South Louisiana.

Yes, black bears are all over Louisiana and we are aware that their population has skyrocketed in recent years, but there's still something special about seeing one on the loose.

Gwendolyn Long posted these photos of a huge black bear walking alongside Hwy. 90 in South Louisiana.

According to her social media post, this bear was spotted in Berwick, LA. If you're familiar with the area, there are bear crossing signs alongside the highway, thus there have been many bear sightings in this area for years.

So, if you're in the area of Berwick or Morgan City, here's a quick reminder that bears are stilll on the loose in the area and you should remain vigilant.

Wildlife and Fisheries says one of the best ways to keep bears off of your property is to never leave food or garbage out. The smell of food can attract bears close to your home and that could pose a danger.
