SCOTT, La. (KPEL News) - The accident that previously shut down I-10 westbound in Scott has been cleared, officials are now saying.

Louisiana DOTD made the announcement around 1:30 p.m., about 30 minutes after the accident was reported.

Original story below.

A vehicle accident on I-10 westbound is causing major issues for those traveling the interstate.

According to Louisiana DOTD, congestion was up to two miles long as of 1 p.m. Tuesday. Motorists are being advised to avoid the area.

The current traffic situation looks bad for those traveling westbound, and in all likelihood should get off I-10 at University or Ambassador before hitting that traffic. But if it remains closed for long, Ambassador would also be a tough option.

Again, avoid the area if possible. There is currently no estimated time for the roadway to be opened back up, but traffic is already becoming a headache.
