One of Louisiana’s Top Grocery Chains Joins GrubHub – Shop from Home Now
LAFAYETTE, La. (KPEL News) - The ability to do your shopping from the comfort of your home and either go pick it up or have someone deliver it to you is a magical thing. If you're sick and you don't want to walk through a grocery store (or if you don't like to deal with people in general), you can avoid the crowds and the extra movement.
One of the largest grocery store chains in the country, however, is teaming up with a food delivery service to make your grocery shopping even easier.
Albertsons has signed a new agreement with the food delivery service GrubHub to provide grocery delivery to shoppers here in Louisiana and across the nation, expanding the delivery service's options and Albertsons availability to customers.
According to GroceryDive, "Albertsons is the first national grocery partner for Grubhub as it looks to use its core restaurant delivery business as a springboard to build a presence in the grocery space, where delivery accounts for roughly a third of online orders."
Albertsons is already partnered with Instacart and DoorDash, signing agreements with them in 2017 and 2021, respectively. The new agreement expands what the grocery chain is already offering, but further maximizes its ability to reach customers who may not be able to (or want to) get out.
More on the agreement and what it means for shoppers:
Through the arrangement, Grubhub is allowing people who visit its website and app to order groceries from almost 1,800 of Albertsons approximately 2,200 supermarkets. Grubhub intends to “add more supply in markets where Grubhub delivery is available” in the future, a spokesperson for the delivery company said in an email.
Grubhub expects to fulfill most orders within an hour, although delivery speed will depend on the number of purchased items and the distance between the store and the customer’s location, according to the spokesperson.
Customers who belong to Grubhub’s membership program, Grubhub+, will not incur delivery fees on eligible orders from Albertsons, according to the announcement.
GrubHub has been working on getting into the grocery store space while also fending off challenges from companies like Instacart, which has been moving into the restaurant delivery space by partnering with Uber.
