Breaux Bridge Community Rallies Around Stranded Veteran And His Dog On I-10
(Breaux Bridge, LA) - Breaux Bridge is not just the Crawfish Capital of the World; it's also a tight-knit community always willing to lend a hand to someone in need, and that's what they did recently for a veteran and his dog.
When someone is down on their luck in Breaux Bridge, the people in that community of 7,500 people are always ready to assist someone; they could give you a little hug.
A Man's Truck Gave Out in Breaux, and the Community Stepped Up
The Breaux Bridge Police Department Facebook page has a beautiful story of how the community came together for a veteran named Franklin and his dog. What can you do when you're stranded in a city because your resources have just run out and your truck is on the fritz? Not much. But that didn't stop Officer Sewell and a bunch of other folks from Breaux Bridge from helping.

Officer Sewell Started the Mission to Help a Veteran Stuck in Breaux Bridge
Officer Sewell learned from Franklin that his truck was disabled, and he needed it to continue his trip out west. Officer Sewell helped Franklin by contacting the insurance company to get things moving in the right direction.
Assistant Chief Latiolais made sure Franklin and his pup had a safe place to stay in the BB waiting room.
Enter Officer Chambers and her husband; he decided to chip in some gas money for Franklin.

Le Cafe (delicious, by the way): Raquel and Jason donated to the cause to make sure Franklin's dog had dog food.
The shout-outs to local police and people continue, as Alleman's Towing donated to this whole cause to get Franklin back on the road. Even the secretary at Alleman's Towing tipped in! This is good stuff!

Breaux Bridge Works Together to Help a Veteran and His Dog Get Back on Their Feet
When all was said and done, Franklin, with his dog riding shotgun (how cute is that?), had food, a little money in his pocket, and a working truck. He was headed westbound on I-10. It's a beautiful thing, and it was made possible by the good people of Breaux Bridge.
One line in the post I love so much,
What happened next had nothing to do with police work in the usual sense. it was just the community taking care of a veteran who needed it.
Yep, it's what y'all and Acadiana do. Another line says it all
Thank you to everyone who stepped up. This is what Breaux Bridge does.
Amen!
