Drivers in Louisiana Facing New Threat on Roadways
Driving in Louisiana can be scary sometimes and there's a new danger for those who travel through communities across the state.
Sure, we know that the condition of the roads in the "Bayou State" isn't the greatest, but that isn't always the biggest threat or issue on the roads.
For years, we have warned you to look both ways before driving through an intersection with a traffic signal because so many drivers in Louisiana ignore the red light. Now, there's a whole new issue out there for drivers, and it has to do with how some approach roundabouts.
In recent years we've seen more roundabouts constructed at busy intersections and while they may allow for better traffic flow, they can pose a danger.
Upon entering the lane that circles the roundabout, you are to yield to oncoming traffic, and yes there are signs warning drivers to do so. Still, that has not registered with some drivers as they enter the lane.
Just as drivers often ignore the red light at intersections, some are now ignoring the Yield signs and they are jumping in front of other vehicles that have the right away.
Just this week, I have seen multiple drivers jump in front of other drivers in a roundabout that had the right way, and often those who are ignoring the Yield sign are on their phones or have no regard for others on the roadway.
So, I share this with you so that you can be aware of the reckless drivers out there as you approach roundabouts in your area because they aren't watching out for you and your family.
