A popular name in Baton Rouge dining has closed its doors for good. Pluckers Wing Bar, known for its legendary wings and lively atmosphere, has officially shut down both of its Baton Rouge locations, marking the end of an era after 21 years in the Capital City.

The two restaurants—one on Bluebonnet Boulevard near the Mall of Louisiana and the other on Nicholson Drive, just a mile south of LSU—were the only Pluckers locations in Louisiana. Their closure means that locals who want to enjoy the chain’s famous wings will now require a road trip to Texas, where the brand continues to operate and expand.

The closures were announced earlier this week, with employees informed via text message that Monday would be the final day of operations. In the message, Pluckers assured employees they would receive their final paycheck along with an additional severance check in two weeks.

In a statement, Pluckers explained that rising operational costs and challenges tied to franchise renewal ultimately led to the decision to close.

“Pluckers is proud to have been a part of the Baton Rouge community for the past 21 years. As the only franchised locations in operation, the two stores were up for renewal. Our focus is to always deliver the best environment for our guests,” the statement read. “After many conversations with our franchisee over the economy and the increased costs to upgrade, together we determined that the best decision was to close these locations. We are sad to end this chapter, but we remain excited about the future of Pluckers and our continued expansion.”

For many who visited the Baton Rouge wing spot, Pluckers was more than just a place to grab a meal—it was somewhat of a tradition for LSU game days, Tigerland outings, and gatherings with friends and family. While the franchise may be exiting the BR dining scene, plenty of local spots are more than willing and able to pick up where they left off.
