ICE Detainee Escapes From Prison in Evangeline Parish

(Pine Prairie, Louisiana) - The Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office is asking the public to be on the lookout for an ICE detainee who escaped from a federal prison on July 31, 2026.

According to the Sheriff's Dept., Santiago Manuel Gasper of Guatemala was being held at the ICE Facility in Evangeline Parish when he escaped.

The Sheriff in Evangeline Parish says Gasper escaped just after 4 pm, but his agency was not notified of the escape until midnight. Sheriff Charles Guillory says if his department had been notified as soon as the man escaped, it could have helped capture him, but now he's on the run.

The Sheriff says that locating the man you see here may be difficult because he does not have family in the area, which means he could be anywhere at this point.

Report Information on Prison Escapee

Authorities do not believe that the escapee is dangerous, as he does not have any prior criminal records. However, if you see this man, you are asked to contact the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office at 337‑363‑2161immediately, or call 911.

A report was called in shortly after the escape that a Hispanic man was seen running through the village of Pine Prairie, but authorities have yet to locate him.

Those in the area should not pick up hitchhikers, as this man could be looking for an easier way to get out of the area from where he escaped. You should also secure vehicles in the area and never leave your keys in an unlocked vehicle, as this could offer the escapee another way to flee the area.
