EUNICE, La. - A late-night shooting outside a daiquiri shop in Eunice has left two people dead and three others injured, according to the Eunice Police Department.

According to Police Chief Kyle LeBouef, officers responded to a shooting at Chip's Daiquiris on West Laurel Avenue on Saturday, August 22, 2026, around 12:15 a.m.

The Five Victims: Two Dead, Three in Serious to Critical Condition

He said the shooting happened in the parking lot, and a total of five people were shot, and two of them have died. Chief LeBouef told News 15 that the other three victims were taken to a Lafayette-area trauma center for treatment of their injuries, which range from serious to critical.

The names of the victims have not been released yet.

What Police Know: Casings Recovered, Video Reviewed, Person of Interest Identified

Chief LeBouef said that investigators have identified one person of interest, but are not releasing that person's name at this time. He also said that several bullet casings were recovered at the scene and that investigators are reviewing video footage from the area.

He also added that investigators believe that more than one gun was used during the shooting.

Meanwhile, the owners of Chip's Daiquiris made the following statement on their Facebook page about the shooting:

We want to address the tragic and senseless shooting that occurred outside our establishment tonight. Security was in place, and immediate action was taken to ensure the safety of our customers and staff.

Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by tonight's events.
