Louisiana Girl Donates Stuffed Animals to the Lafayette Police Department

(Lafayette, LA) - A young lady we wrote about a few months ago is back with more stuffed animals being donated to first responders, and this time she donated to the Lafayette Police Department to hand out to children in times of crisis.

There could be any number of terrifying situations that young children can get caught in the middle of in our world today. When a Lafayette Police Department officer reports to a scene, his job is to ensure everyone is safe and assist at the scene.

Lila Neal and Lila's Patrol Pals for Kids Help in Times of Stress

Lila Neal, a 9-year-old, started a non-profit group to help children going through a difficult time. Her non-profit, "Lila's Patrol Pals," has been super busy this summer delivering stuffed animals to area law enforcement agencies.

Officers hand out stuffed animals when they are on the scene of a serious situation to comfort a child.

Lila visited the Lafayette Police Department this week to deliver multiple boxes of stuffed animals. The DeQuincy girl collects stuffed animals, gets them cleaned up, and makes sure they get into the hands of law enforcement across our state.

Why Lila Started Her Program Handing Out Stuffed Animals

What would motivate a little girl to start a nonprofit endeavor like this? It's because her dad used to work at the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, and he always kept a bag of stuffed animals in his vehicle in case he encountered a child who needed the comfort of a teddy bear.

Imagine a child crying at the scene of a traffic crash; an officer can give that child a stuffed animal to hold, providing security and comfort.
