Louisiana Attorney Busted for Bringing Client Drugs & More Into Jail
In today's world, there are cameras everywhere. And officials in Allen Parish say they caught an attorney on camera in the parish correctional center allegedly giving his client prohibited items like drugs according to KPLC.
Correctional centers have tons of cameras, and it doesn't matter where you are in those facilities someone is always watching. The story covered by KPLC involves an attorney who was arrested and booked into the Allen Parish Correctional Center.
Officials say that attorney Jonathan Brown from Calcasieu Parish was booked into the jail Wednesday on the following charges:
Bringing Contraband into a Penal Facility
Three counts of Distribution of Narcotics
Possession of Narcotics
What Happened?
Chief Deputy Blair Fontenot says this happened in the afternoon. A Correctional Center employee noticed something seemed off with an inmate's body. When they searched the inmate, they recovered a package that contained the following:
Three knives
Several phones
Narcotics
How Could Something Like This Happen?
When you are in jail and you are meeting with an attorney the lawyer can carry in items needed like a briefcase that should be holding things like legal documents and papers, only items like that.
Fontenot told KPLC,
So, for example, their briefcase, they get to bring a briefcase in, where normal visitors don't get to bring that in, something that can conceal.
As far as what can and can't be brought into the facility Fontenot says he can't give details about that information other than the above comment.
The judge set Brown's bond at $175,000.
