K9 Beagles Prove Speedy Heroes in Louisiana Suspect Chase
(KPEL News) - Law enforcement officials with the Louisiana Sheriff's Department were able to capture their suspect with the help of some four-legged friends who were on the job, according to a report at KTAL.
What Led The Sheriff's Office To Need Help With A Search?
During an incident on I-49 on Wednesday, September 3, a person who was allegedly driving a vehicle that crashed ran away from the scene.
Officials with the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office posted on social media that a crash had happened on I-49 on the northbound side of the interstate.
Officials wanted to alert drivers that I-49 in that area near the Asseff Exit was going to probably slow them down, as someone had crashed into the back of a vehicle and fled the scene.
What Happened After The Crash?
A wrecked vehicle could be seen on the side of the roadway.
The vehicle was severely smashed up after the driver smacked into the back of an 18-wheeler.
The person driving the vehicle then ran out of the car and into an adjacent wooded area.
What Information Did They Learn?
According to officials, the man on the run had a warrant out for his arrest from another parish.
Sheriff's deputies with the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office wasted no time in responding to the situation and deploying their resources.
One of the first things they did was release their drone in the area to get a good visual of where the suspect might be running to or hiding.

The K9 handler was on the scene, and in what can only be described as one of the cutest scenes ever, the four-legged friends started the search.
The three Beagles were on the job, and they wasted no time in making sure they got their man.
Louisiana K9 Beagles Track Down Fugitive in Minutes
It only took the deputies, K9 deputies, and the drone operator to corner the suspect like he was a MilkBone dog bone wrapped in bacon!
We're pretty sure the accolades of "Good Boy" could be heard over and over again after the suspect was nabbed.
Beagles are great search and rescue dogs because they are excellent at hunting, according to the American Kennel Club. They say the dogs were also bred to hunt in packs. Above, you can see three adorable dogs living their best lives!
Beagles Are Happy And Cute Dogs
The American Kennel Club says beagles are friendly and happily-go-lucky dogs. That makes sense as Snoopy from the "Peanuts" comic is a beagle.
Wag Walking says the dogs are also excellent hunters because of their tremendous sense of smell. They explain that all dogs have a fantastic sense of smell far greater than humans, but of all the breeds, hounds, including beagles, have the best sense of smell.
