(Baton Rouge, Louisiana) - A recent graduate from LSU reeled in an award-winning fish while competing in a tournament in the Gulf of America.

Jaselyn Berthelot posted several photos on social media showing off the catch of a lifetime while out on the waters of the Gulf during Independence Day weekend.

The LSU grad was competing in three separate tournaments during the holiday weekend when she caught the 609-pound blue marlin.. If you're wondering how long it took to get the fish aboard the boat, it took just over 7 hours.

Berthelot did not win the World Cup on this day, but the largest catch in the Gulf on this day diid award her with a payout of a little more than $50,000 by winning the Gold Cup.

In her social media post, the young lady did credit her crew for putting her in the position to catch this massive fish, which she says isn't the largest one she's caught while out on the water.

Following this recent catch, Berthelot says she feels the World Cup is drawing closer and closer for her to win, and we wish her nothing but the best in the years to come.

KLFY News 10 reports that she, "Lives in West Baton Rouge Parish and graduated in December 2024 with a bachelor’s degree in animal sciences and technology. She worked at the LSU Vet School for two years while in college."

Bertherlot is already back on the water, competing in tournaments, and while she loves caring for animals, fishing is her true passion.

Having recently visited the Gulf, I couldn't help but wonder how many "Big Fish" are out there. After seeing Jaselyn's post and photos of the fish she caught, it's clear that some giant fish are swimming in the Gulf of America.

Take a look at some photos of the catch. Wow.
