Saints-Cowboys Hit With Massive Fines for Fighting at Joint Practice

(New Orleans, Louisiana) - The NFL season is rapidly approaching, and the New Orleans Saints and the Dallas Cowboys came together for a joint practice, and things got heated between the two teams.

Fights at training camp sessions are common, as many players battle to make the team, and sometimes it gets very ugly. That's what happened in Oxnard, California, recently, when the Saints and the Cowboys practiced together.

While each team's offense and defense scrimmaged throughout the practice, things got way too physical for some, and they were afraid to let their emotions show on the practice field.

On at least seven or eight occasions during the joint practice, the two teams started to fight one another, and some of the fights were not pretty. In various videos posted on X, I saw helmets removed, punches thrown, and even players suplexed.

At one point, there were so many fights at practice that those reporting from California suggested that the two organizations should just stop and cancel the entire practice. The problem is that many players hoping to make the team need the reps so coaches can properly evaluate their skills.

Well, the practice did go on as scheduled, and once the two teams were done on the field, they seemed to put their differences aside, and all was good.

Saints-Cowboys Fined by The NFL

However, that did not stop the league from stepping in and addressing both teams' behavior. The NFL announced that both the Saints and the Cowboys would be fined $ 500,000 each for their behavior on the practice field.

Since then, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys has announced that his organization will personally fine the players seen in videos engaging in the fights.

Saints 2026 Opening Game

The New Orleans Saints open their regular season on September 13 against the Lions in Detroit, and later that evening the Cowboys will face the Giants on Sunday Night Football.
