Colder Weather, Storms Coming Back to Louisiana Later This Week

Weather watchers who keep an eye on the sky in Louisiana know that this time of year Mother Nature can change her mind on current weather conditions in what seems like a moment's notice. If you've lived in Louisiana long enough you know the drill, you leave the house in short sleeves and by the time you come home later in the day, you're wishing you had a coat.

And if you glance at your calendar you'll also see that Thursday marks the last day of February and that means the March begins on Friday. What's the old saying about March? It comes in like a lion? Well, Louisiana might experience some of the roars, especially by the time Thursday and Friday roll around.

Just for clarity's sake, forecasters with the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Lake Charles are not anticipating a severe weather event this week. Neither are the severe weather experts at the Storm Prediction Center. Well, they are not forecasting severe storms for Louisiana this week, the upper midwest could be a different story but for Louisiana, we should have rain, a few storms, and a nice chill but nothing severe.

What is Louisiana's Work Week Weather Forecast?

Monday and Tuesday should be quite springlike across much of the state. Afternoon temperatures will be in the middle to upper 70s and sunshine will be abundant on Monday, with a few more clouds for Tuesday. It will be quite breezy on both days.

The changes start to move into the area on Wednesday when the wind shifts from the south to the north. It will feel quite a bit cooler and wind gusts on Wednesday could be as high as 30 mph in the afternoon. Wednesday night will be cloudy, windy, and cold but not freezing.

When Will It Get Cold Again in Louisiana?

The coolest temperatures of the week will come on Thursday. Afternoon high temperatures are not expected to be above 60. By Thursday night there will also be a chance of showers moving into the state. Rain chances will ramp up during the day on Friday and there is a better-than-average chance of rain and storms in the forecast for Friday, but temperatures will moderate and it won't be quite as chilly.

The outlook for the weekend calls for a mix of clouds and sun with a slight risk of showers. Temperatures for the next weekend should be seasonable.
