(KMDL-FM) A popular family pasta dish, ravioli, sold at Costco Stores, is the subject of a recall from the United States Department of Agriculture's Food Safety Inspection Service. The issue with the product is not quality or food safety. The issue that was the catalyst for the recall is a labeling error.

Labeling errors are one of the leading reasons that products get recalled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Food and Drug Administration, and/or the United States Department of Agriculture's Food Safety Inspection Service. Label Error on Recalled Ravioli Could Be Fatal For Many Americans

The issue with the recalled pasta or ravioli is that the packaging label does not match the contents of the package. In this case, the pasta is labeled as beef and burrata-filled, but in actuality, it contains a shrimp filling with lobster sauce.

It is estimated that some 7 to 8 million Americans suffer from food allergies related to shellfish. It's the most common allergy among adults. In fact, most shellfish allergies don't manifest until a person has reached physical maturity. The reaction to shellfish among those who are allergic can be severe or even fatal.

Here is the specific brand and packaging information that you should be looking for in your own home freezer. The raviolis were produced between March 10, 2026, and April 21, 2026. The packages feature a "Use By Date" ranging from May 14 to June 25 of this year.

The products were shipped to multiple Costco locations. It has been confirmed that the majority of the mislabeled products were shipped to stores on the East Coast, but it is possible that Louisiana locations could have received some of the recalled product.
