Louisiana appears to be made up of two kinds of sportsmen. There are folks that like to go fishing. And then there are folks like me, that like to go catching. And if you like "to go catching" then Louisiana is the state you want to be in.

Our state has been blessed with an abundance of water, except during the summer when we need it for the crawfish season. All drought jokes aside, in Louisiana we do have some of the country's best bass fishing lakes. We also have bayous, streams, and ponds that make catching fish other than big bass fun and exciting.

And we also have access to one "really big pond", we call it the Gulf of Mexico and anglers come from far and wide to try their luck and test their skill in landing one of the best "food fish" on the planet, the Red Snapper.

The website Fishbooker.com recently surveyed patrons of their site about what places along the Gulf Coast were the very best when it came to fishing for Red Snapper. The website identified eight locations. There were two in Texas, three in Florida, one in Alabama, and only one in Louisiana.

The location in Louisiana that earned the love of the Fishbooker.com site was Venice, Louisiana. If you look at the map it makes pretty good sense that Venice and fishing in the Gulf of Mexico would be closely connected. Heck, the city is located almost in the Gulf of Mexico.
