Popular Pork Sandwiches Sold in Louisiana Subject of USDA Recall
(KMDL-FM) A popular pulled pork product has been pulled because the popular pulled pork might contain plastic. Pardon our alliteration, but we figured this would be the best way to get the word out that one of your favorite ready-to-eat treats available at convenience stores and quick-stop eateries across Louisiana has been removed from the shelves by the Food Safety Inspection Service of the United States Department of Agriculture.
Where Were The Recalled Pork Sandwiches Made?
According to the recall notice posted on the FSIS website, the popular pulled pork sandwiches were produced by the E.A. Sween Company. The company distributed some 127,887 pounds of product that, upon further inspection, could be contaminated with bits of plastic.

After receiving numerous complaints from consumers who reported bits of plastic in the sandwiches, the E.A. Sween Company shut down the production line to investigate the claims. What they discovered, or believe they have discovered, is that the tiny bits of plastic came from plastic barbecue sauce bottles that were used in the production of the product.
As of this report, neither the company nor the FSIS, nor the USDA has received any confirmed report of injury because of this issue. It is hoped that the recall of the affected product will prevent any injury or illness in the future. The product that has been recalled has a label that looks like this.

What Does the Label of the Recalled Pork Sandwich Look Like?
The recalled items were produced between January 13, 2025, and October 15, 2025, so there is a strong possibility that some of the recalled products could be in cold storage at the stores that sell them. Food service managers are being asked to review their inventory and be on the lookout for products with the Establishment Number EST.2451 inside the USDA mark of inspection.
Consumers and members of the media with questions about the recall can contact the E.A. Sween Company Customer Service Hotline at 1-800-328-8184 and select option #2.
