The retail landscape across Acadiana continues to be tough for many local businesses. Unfortunately, we have learned of yet another locally owned outlet that is closing its doors.

In a Facebook post on Monday, the owners of Tropical Fish Bowl in Lafayette have announced that they will be shuddering operations on June 21st.

This is extremely sad news for those who love their home aquariums as Tropical Fish Bowl has been Lafayette's only aquatic specialty store for quite some time.

They've been in business since 1979, offering the area's only professional maintenance service for homes, offices and ponds.

For the last couple of years, our office has had a really cool aquarium from Tropical Fish Bowl and it surely has been a great addition to our business' lobby.

The good news for customers is that they'll be able to save big before the store officially closes on June 21, 2024. Now through that day, all of Tropical Fish Bowl's inventory will be on sale at a 40% discount.

Speaking of customers, judging by the comments on the above Facebook post, you can tell how loyal they have been to Tropical Fish Bowl.

You guys have been phenomenal. I wish you all nothing but the best. Thanks for all the help and advice you've given. - Cody H.

Everyone is so helpful. Sad to see y'all go. Good luck in all your future endeavors. - Jennifer D.

I am so so so sad. Always loved coming and seeing y'all and getting good fish from the only LFS we have around here. Y'all will be missed. - Mary M.

We wish the owners the best of luck in the future. Thanks for being such a huge part of the Lafayette business landscape for all these years.
