(KMDL-FM) The fact that Halloween is at the end of the week naturally means our thoughts as a society should be turning to how much money we're going to have to spend for Christmas. Traditionally, a lot of Louisiana shoppers have relied on Walmart stores for money-saving offers, especially on that most magical of shopping days, Black Friday. What does the giant retailer have planned for us this year?

The first thing that sticks out to me about Walmart's Black Friday plan is this: it's not just one day anymore. I am sure there are many of you of a certain age who delighted in waking up on the Friday after Thanksgiving before the crack of dawn to hit as many Black Friday sales as possible.

Back in those days, every retailer would open early on Black Friday and offer huge incentives for shoppers to spend their Christmas cash before the sun came up. That's not the case anymore. Black Friday is no longer a day; it's a season unto itself.

What Are Walmart's Black Friday Sales and Savings?

For Walmart, that season will manifest in three separate "events" designed to increase consumer awareness and pull those shoppers into the store, or in the case of today's America, onto the website.  Walmart's CEO John Furner told the media that the retailer has plans to drop prices by as much as 60% on top brands and has plans to offer thousands of deals for $20 or less.

The first of the three "events" Walmart has planned for Black Friday will actually come to fruition on November 14. This event will run through the 16th and will feature specific savings on items both in-store and online. Members of Walmart+ will be able to access the deals as early as November 13th.

The second of the three Black Friday events planned by Walmart will begin on November 25th. Walmart will offer special deals from the 25th through the 27th online only. The savings will open up to in-store customers on November 28th.  Again, Walmart+ members will be allowed to access the deals on the night of the 24th.

Will Walmart Be Open on Thanksgiving Day?

We should note that the reason for the "online only" restriction is that Walmart has announced plans to close its stores on Thanksgiving Day.

The third Black Friday event planned by Walmart will take place on Cyber Monday, December 1st. As you've probably figured out, the deals will be online only. Again, with a Walmart+ membership, you get to the goodies sooner, and you'll be able to shop Cyber Monday Deals on Sunday, November 30th, beginning at 6 pm.

According to reports, Walmart has plans to offer its best deals on Electronics, Toys, Home Goods, and Fashion and Beauty gifts. The retailer has adopted a Dr. Seuss-inspired theme of "WhoKnewVille". Which is a take-off on the popular Dr. Seuss book How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

20 Items You Can Never Return to Walmart Stores

Before you hit that "Add to Cart" button or fill up your cart at Walmart, there are a few things that the big box store is selling that you will need to keep forever. Below are 20 items you can never return to a Walmart store. (And I'm really glad that a few of these are on the list!)
