Louisiana is one of 21 states affected by a food item recall issued by the FDA. Once again, salmonella has contaminated a popular sweet treat that many families probably have in their refrigerators right now.

Nearly 30,000 batches of cookie dough were recalled last month over fears that it could cause food poisoning. The FDA has now classified this as a Class II risk, meaning it "can cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote."

What Cookie Dough Is Being Recalled In Louisiana?

  • Costco Chocolate Chunk Frozen Cookie Dough
  • Member's Mark Chocolate Chunk
  • Panera Chocolate Chipper Cookie
  • Rise Baking Jumbo Chocolate Chunk
  • Mini Chocolate Chip Cookie

Initally the recall was issued on May 2nd. Now the FDA has increased the risk level up to Class II which is one of three risk levels. The recall is for the Rise Baking Company's products that are sold at Costco, Sam's Club, and Panera Bread restaurants.

 

The states affected are as follows: California, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Oregon, Florida, Illinois, North Carolina, Massachusetts, Wisconsin, Colorado, Louisiana, Texas, Missouri, Minnesota, Oklahoma, New York, Michigan, Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey, and Georgia.

Dangers of Salmonella Poisoning

Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause serious health issues, especially for pregnant women, the elderly, children, and anyone with a compromised immune system.

Symptoms usually begin 12-72 hours after consumption. These symptoms include diarrhea, abdominal cramping, fever, nausea and vomiting, chills, and headache.
