ORIGINAL STORY:

Family members and loved ones are searching for a man who reportedly went missing earlier this week, last located in the Abbeville area.

Rami Qasem says that his younger brother Mohamad Qasem went missing early Thursday morning (Apr. 6). Friends say Mohamad was last seen on Wednesday afternoon (Apr. 5) but his truck was located early Thursday and Quasem was nowhere to be found.

Rami says his brother's last known location was in Abbeville near Ranch and Opta Road in a very detailed message posted to his Facebook page in hopes of adding context to the search for his brother.

His truck was found at Leblanc Elementary nearby abandoned with the windows down, keys inside, no gas, and dead battery at 1 AM.

Rami says he last had contact with his brother around 11 p.m. on Wednesday (Apr. 5) the night before when he suspected that "he was not in his right mind." Qasem revealed that his brother has been battling addiction and provided other personal details to add context to the search for Mohamad.

My brother currently resides in Youngsville, LA with two other persons who I will remain nameless at this time. What I will tell you is they met at Rehab and that is when everything has gone south for my brother. His health has been on a rapid decline while residing at this home with these folks. He has lost tons of weight, suffers from liver disease, esophageal varices, amongst other things that o may not know by now. He was in Rehab due to an alchohol addiction and is known to take Xanax and has experienced other drugs. Days after the 30 day program where we felt he may have made strides he left his wife and 1 year old daughter let to go live with the girl he met at rehab. While it pains me to mention all of this it is needed to understand the situation.

Qasem says local Vermilion Parish authorities have been searching and working leads but asked anyone with information to please come forward, offering a reward for "credible information" that may lead to his discovery.

As of right now there are leads being worked but not fast enough. If anyone has any info on my brother please contact myself and Detective Landry at +1 (337) 207-5271. My family is offering a $5,000 reward for credible information leading to his discovery and you will remain anonymous.

32-year-old Mohamad Qasem is 6'3 and weighs between 220-240 lbs. He has black hair and a beard and his eyes are brown. He was last seen wearing a black shirt and black pants.

If you have any information on Qasem's whereabouts please contact the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office or your local police.
