LPSS Superintendent Addresses Boosie Visit As Northside Principal Remains On Leave
After days of speculation, viral videos, and nationwide attention, Lafayette Parish School System Superintendent Francis Touchet has released a statement addressing the controversy surrounding a recent visit by rapper Boosie Badazz and the administrative leave of Northside High School Principal James Rollins.
The situation has sparked widespread discussion across Acadiana and beyond, with many questioning what led to the disciplinary decision.
What The Superintendent Said
In his statement, Touchet emphasized that student and staff safety remains the district’s top priority. He confirmed that LPSS had approved a visit by Boosie to Carencro High School through proper channels earlier in the week.
However, Touchet also acknowledged that a separate visit to another campus did not follow standard approval procedures and is now under review.
“The Lafayette Parish School System’s first priority is always the safety of our students and staff,” Touchet said. “A visit to another school campus that had not received prior approval from LPSS and did not follow standard approval standards is currently under review.”
While the statement did not specifically name Northside High or Principal Rollins, the timing closely aligns with reports surrounding the situation.
How The Situation Escalated
The controversy began after Boosie visited Acadiana ahead of his upcoming Boosie Bash at the Cajundome. During his visit, social media videos surfaced appearing to show the rapper inside Northside High School, interacting with students in a gym setting.
Shortly after, it was confirmed that Principal James Rollins had been placed on administrative leave, though LPSS initially declined to comment on the reason, citing personnel policies.
Boosie Responds As Story Goes Viral
As the story gained traction, even reaching national blogs and social media platforms, Boosie himself responded publicly. The Baton Rouge rapper said he was invited to the school to speak positively to students and encouraged the district to allow Rollins to return.
Boosie maintained that his intent was to motivate students and promote making better life decisions, not to disrupt school policy.

What Happens Next
At this point, LPSS has not announced how long the investigation will take or whether additional action will be taken. The district has also not clarified whether the principal’s leave is paid or temporary.
We will update this story as more information becomes available.
