Northside Principal Placed On Leave After Boosie Visit Raises Questions
A developing situation within the Lafayette Parish School System has drawn widespread attention after Northside High School Principal James Rollins was placed on administrative leave. The district has confirmed the disciplinary action but has not provided specific details, citing personnel policies.
According to reporting from the Acadiana Advocate, the move was confirmed by LPSS officials, though the district has not publicly stated whether the leave is paid or how long it may last.
Questions Surround Reported Boosie Visit
The timing of the decision has fueled speculation online, with many pointing to a reported visit by Louisiana rapper Boosie Badazz, whose real name is Torence Hatch. Social media videos appear to show the rapper inside a school gym on April 29, with several users identifying the location as Northside High.
Sources cited in local reports say Boosie may have visited the campus without prior approval from LPSS, which would violate district policy regarding outside guests and campus security procedures.
Conflicting Reports And Limited Official Comment
While some outlets report the visit as confirmed, others note that LPSS has not officially verified the appearance or directly connected it to Rollins’ administrative leave. The district has maintained that it cannot comment further due to the matter being a personnel issue.
Additional reporting indicates Boosie was initially scheduled to visit Carencro High School earlier in the week, but that appearance was canceled after travel delays. That visit had reportedly gone through proper approval channels.

Boosie’s Presence In Acadiana Draws Attention
Boosie has been making multiple stops across Acadiana ahead of his upcoming Boosie Bash concert at the Cajundome.
During the same visit, he was also honored in nearby St. Landry Parish, where officials declared May 10 as “Boosie Badazz Day” in recognition of his influence and Louisiana roots.
Veteran Educator With Long Career
James Rollins was appointed principal of Northside High School in June 2024 and brings more than 25 years of experience in education. His background includes roles as a teacher, assistant principal, and school leader across several campuses in Lafayette Parish.
As of now, no official determination has been announced regarding the circumstances surrounding his leave. The situation remains under review as the community awaits further clarification from LPSS.
