Exchange Meet-Up Turns Tragic: Two Juveniles Critically Injured in Lafayette Shooting

A violent altercation erupted in the 100 block of Evelyn Dr. around 8:56 p.m. on 10/9/2023, according to the Lafayette Police Department. Responding officers found one individual with a gunshot wound at the scene. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital and is currently listed in critical condition.

Shortly thereafter, officers received notification of a second individual, also with gunshot injuries, arriving at a different local hospital. This second victim was brought in by an associate and is similarly listed in critical condition.

Upon deeper investigation, it has been determined that the two injured parties, both of whom are juveniles, had arranged to meet for an exchange. However, things took a tragic turn as a disagreement ensued, leading both parties to draw firearms. The resulting gunfire exchange left both juveniles wounded.

Authorities are diligently working on the case. Arrests are anticipated in connection with this incident. Updates will be released as the investigation progresses.
