Over 2.5 Million Pounds Affected

2,581,816 pounds of canned meat are being recalled due to a packaging defect. These products, produced between December 12, 2022, and January 12, 2023, will have P4247 on their cans. The defect raises concerns as it could lead to contamination of the products without any visual proof, posing a potential risk to consumers.

Brands Affected by the Recall

The recall affects several popular brands of Vienna sausages and potted meat. Consumers are urged to check the list provided to ensure they are not in possession of the recalled products. Among the affected brands are:

  • Armour Star
  • Goya
  • Grace
  • Great Value
  • Hargis
  • Hereford
  • Kroger
  • Prairie Belt
  • Valrico

No Confirmed Severe Reactions Reported

Fortunately, there have been no confirmed reports of severe reactions related to the consumption of these products.

Consumers who have purchased any of the recalled products are advised not to consume them. Instead, they should either discard them or return them to the place of purchase for a refund.

Anyone concerned about potential injury or illness related to the consumption of these products is urged to contact their healthcare provider immediately.

FSIS's Primary Concern

The primary concern of the FSIS is to prevent further distribution and consumption of the recalled products. They are particularly focused on removing these items from retail store shelves and consumers' pantries to  any potential health risks.

For further information on the recall and updates, consumers can visit the official USDA FSIS website or refer to credible news sources.
