Two students at a Louisiana middle school were arrested on Wednesday afternoon (March 12) after a firearm was discovered on campus.

According to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, their task force members were called to the campus at Capitol Middle School in Baton Rouge shortly after 2:00 pm after a report of a gun being in a student's backpack.

School administrators were notified that a gun was discovered on campus. School personnel took the unloaded gun from a backpack.

Two students admitted to have a gun while on campus. Both students are sixth graders, one a 12-year-old and the other a 13-year-old.

Thankfully, no threats were made.

However, the two students were booked into the East Baton Rouge juvenile detention center on charges of illegal carrying of a firearm on school property, firearm-free zone, and illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile.
