Governor Jindal announces the shuffling of dollars will help avoid new budget cuts to the state's Medicaid program. Jindal says they've come up with a way to reverse cuts that would have affected hospitals that take care of pregnant women and critically ill babies. Jindal announced the reversal of cuts after meeting with Louisiana's hospitals leaders. Louisiana Hospital Association president John Matessino calls it a significant development to restore funding for a program that takes care of sick babies. The state is able to avoid the cuts, because of a recent 3.5 million dollar bonus from the federal government for enrolling children into a special Medicaid Program. Jindal says the infusion of cash gives them more financial flexibility.
