Johnson’s Boucanière in Downtown Lafayette Temporarily Closed Due to Water Damage
Johnson's Boucanière, a popular local eatery in Downtown Lafayette, has announced a temporary closure due to significant water damage.
In an official statement, the restaurant shared the unfortunate news: “We will be CLOSED temporarily due to water damage. We will post an update when we get more information on how long repairs will take. We are so sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.”
The incident occurred on Monday night (Aug. 5) when water damage from the second floor infiltrated the restaurant. Owner and pitmaster Greg Walls reiterated the announcement on his Facebook page, sharing more details about the situation. “Hey guys - just a heads up. We had some water damage occur from the second floor down into Johnson's Boucanière last night. We have already started on the demo. Stay tuned for a reopening date.”
Johnson's Boucanière has earned its reputation as one of Lafayette’s favorite spots, known for its delicious barbecue, boudin, and warm, inviting atmosphere. The downtown area and beyond will certainly feel the absence of this local hotspot, but they will be ready (and hungry) the day they reopen their doors.
For the latest updates on the status of the repairs and the eventual reopening, patrons are encouraged to follow Johnson’s Boucanière on Facebook.
