Jury Deliberations Continue In Katrina Death Case
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Jury deliberations have resumed in the trial of five current or former New Orleans police officers charged in the death of a man who was fatally shot before his body was burned in Hurricane Katrina's aftermath.
Jurors returned to the federal courthouse Wednesday after deliberating for roughly eight hours Tuesday.
A former officer, David Warren, is charged with shooting Henry Glover, 31, without justification outside a strip mall on Sept. 2, 2005.
Lt. Dwayne Scheuermann and Officer Gregory McRae are charged with burning Glover's body and beating men who brought the dying man to a makeshift police compound in search of help.
Lt. Travis McCabe and former Lt. Robert Italiano are charged with writing and submitting a false report on the shooting.
